Crocus darts
This is a plinth-top prototype, created in 1995, of the crocus concept on the previous page.
As can be seen here, the flowers aren't crocuses.
They are darts.
This version uses an area of artificial turf along with cheap artificial flowers and cheap darts to emphasise the humorous quality of the work.
The piece utilises visual deception and the surprise that is caused by the realisation that one's perceptions have been tricked.
The power of the deception is enhanced by the contrast between the 'soft' qualities of the crocuses and the 'hard' qualities of the darts.
